Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find US government contracts?

Register on SAM.gov with your UEI (Unique Entity Identifier), set up saved searches by NAICS code, and monitor contract opportunities daily. AutoTender automates this across SAM.gov and other US portals.

What is a small business set-aside?

A set-aside restricts competition for a contract to eligible small businesses. Besides general small business set-asides, programs include 8(a), HUBZone, service-disabled veteran-owned (SDVOSB) and women-owned (WOSB and EDWOSB) small businesses. Only firms that qualify can bid.

How long does SAM.gov registration take?

Allow several weeks: a registration is reviewed before it becomes active, and validation takes longer when documents are requested. Start early, and check that your legal name, address, tax details and NAICS codes match your official records. Since April 2022 SAM.gov issues the Unique Entity ID (UEI); the DUNS number is no longer used.
